Meet The Face Behind EMF Fitness
I’m Eric Brulotte, the proud owner of EMF Fitness.
I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
My goal behind starting EMF Fitness was to help other people achieve a higher quality of life through exercise, eating right, and living a healthier lifestyle. At the same time, I had always been drawn to working for myself, as I wanted the ability to take control and take my thoughts and dreams and develop them into something physical.
Physical training had been a big part of my life for almost a decade before I decided to train others as a career. I underwent a massive weight loss and lifestyle transformation on my own and was beginning to become the go-to guy among friends and family for exercise and diet advice. At the time, I was working in BC as a welder, and my mom was the one who convinced me to go to school to become a trainer.
I completed six months of training school and loved every bit of it, but once I got out, I was trapped by a mindset that labeled me as a mere welder. This made me think that training was too far outside of my comfort zone. So, I went back to welding, and after a year, I had the opportunity to move to Alberta for another welding job. When I moved there, I had some time between my interview and decided to go into a gym and see what it took to be a trainer in Alberta. After my conversation with the owner, I was offered a job, which I took and never looked back.
I trained in a commercial gym for two years with the goal of starting my own gym in the back of my mind. After acquiring sufficient experience in the field, I took a leap of faith, and three years later, here we are!
I became a self-employed trainer three and a half years ago but officially incorporated EMF fitness two years ago. Today, I have my own facility, with five full-time trainers working to help our clients reach their goals. Together, we are a team of fitness enthusiasts working towards manifesting our vision of creating Calgary’s top personal training studio, changing the lives of thousands of Calgarians, and spreading our reach more and more each year.
When I first started, I was training clients in the field. I was continuously trying to figure out where I could get more clients, where I would train when the weather got bad, how I was possibly going to survive financially, and how I was going to get from here to the vision I had in my mind for my business. But, with a bit of perseverance and positivity, I managed to meet my goals.
Similarly, as I grew in my career, I realized that what holds people back during fitness training is much deeper than just exercise and a diet. It was creating a lifestyle around their health, making themselves a priority, and getting through mental limitations that were weighing them down. As a personal trainer, I love getting to know people on a deep, personal level, and supporting them throughout their fitness journey. Getting to see people transform not only physically but also mentally is very gratifying. Through the years, I’ve helped numerous clients transform and become strong and confident in their bodies. This has allowed them to realize they are capable of much more than they ever thought.
Enabling our clients to love their bodies and live a healthier lifestyle, is what motivates us to do what we do every day. We work hard to keep our clients on track with their goals of living a happier, healthier life. At the same time, we make sure that we are honest with them, caring in our approach, and available to clear their doubts and offer support when necessary.
To get to where we are today, besides putting our clients first and sticking to the greater vision, we had to put in a lot of hard work, discipline, and sacrifice into our efforts.
From inception to date, my most satisfying moment in this business was the day EMF opened its first facility. This was something I had seen in my mind for years, but once it was physically there, I knew I had converted my thoughts into a reality. And, that’s encouraged me to work harder and stay positive.
When I am not training clients at the gym, I enjoy my own physical training. Exercise and a healthy lifestyle have played a massive part in getting me through my anxiety and depression. I know not everyone suffers the same level of depression and anxiety, but when I focused on fitness, I was able to feel good again and gain control over my mind and body.
Besides staying fit, I love spending time hiking, being with nature, reading, and investing in my personal development. I also enjoy devoting my free time to my fiancé and our dogs.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
